Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) is an independent Charity which aims to provide free ‘home away from home’ accommodation at hospitals across the UK, enabling families to stay close to their child and maintain a degree of normal family life.

The new Ronald McDonald House at Birmingham Children’s Hospital is the largest purpose built accommodation facility to date. As well as providing 60 ensuite bedrooms, the Birmingham House offers families the opportunity to cook together, to eat together and share their experiences of the day.

For families coming to the Children’s Hospital for day care, there is also a purpose built lounge, kitchen and play area on the ground floor for their use throughout the day.

The RMH Birmingham Children’s opened in November 2009, but, even though the House has now been built, we still need help to raise much needed funds to cover the cost of running the House.

Amy left us in 2008 to work in Australia but is now back in blighty!  As Becky is now on maternity leave, Amy re-joins the team and will be assisting Alice processing bookings and payments until December.  It’s nice to have her back – after returning from Oz, the one thing she’s missed most is Strictly Come Dancing !! (oh and we’re sure the cold weather too!)

Our Artistic Director and his team of choreographers were blown away by the talent they saw and now have the tricky task of reducing the number down to a shortlist, ready to place performers at all 3 of our Christmas shows.  The Dance Fever show in Birmingham needs dancers who are proficient in all dance styles, from latin to streetdance so getting the right artiste is crucial – a world champion latin dancer who had travelled all the way from Italy to audition certainly caught their eye – so watch this space……
