After the success of last year’s Dance Fever Christmas Party Spectaculars which took place at The ICC Birmingham throughout December 2011, JD Parties were able to raise over £5,000 through their charity fun casino which took place at the Party Spectaculars.
Ronald McDonald House is situated next to Birmingham’s Children Hospital and provides ‘home away from home’ accommodation for families with children in hospital, somewhere free to stay for as long as they need to.
Many families travel miles from home so that their child can receive expert medical care from specialist children’s hospitals across the UK. Often, children have to remain in hospital for months at a time, so for the families, staying close to their child can be a struggle. Without a local Ronald McDonald House, many parents have to sleep on a chair by their child’s bed, on a pull down bed if this is available, or pay vast sums of money for hotel accommodation.
The 60 bedroom House is run completely by voluntary contributions and needs to raise £500,000 each year. It costs the Charity £25 per night to look after one family, so every penny donated really makes a big difference.
The contribution of £5,216.50 from JD Parties will provide 208 nights of accommodation to families in need. Libby Aston, House Manager said, “We rely on the local community to help keep the House open so we can look after families in need. JD Parties have dedicated their time and effort to helping families with seriously ill children in hospital and we can’t thank them enough.â€
JD Parties will once again be hosting the Christmas Party Spectaculars at The ICC from 30 November – 31 December 2012. This year’s chosen charity is the British Heart Foundation.
