We love the glamour of the 1920s!  It’s the perfect excuse to get dressed up and have a bit of fun when choosing your Christmas party outfit.  Here are five of our favourite fancy dress ideas for the Speakeasy Ball.

The Gangster
Choose a wide pin striped, navy or grey, 3 piece ‘zoot’ suit with red or white braces, a Fedora style hat and black and white Brogues.  If you’re really getting in to character try drawing on a designer moustache and carry a fake cigar.  (Fake machine gun optional!)

The Flapper
Wear a beaded, tasselled, dropped waist lined dress in a nude shade with silky elbow length gloves and a fake cigarette holder.  Accessorise your outfit with lots of feathers, pearls and diamond jewellery. Flappers wore their hair short and bobbed so perfect the look by wearing a wig or styling your hair with a pretty diamante clip.

The Roaring 20s Blazer
Red and white thick striped blazers were a popular style in the 1920s.  Team with a white boater style hat with a red, white and blue ribbon, finish off with a dickie bow for an authentic 1920s look.

The Silent Movie Star
Silent movies were all the rage in the 1920s. Make like a silent movie star and team a little black dress with a pair of daring fishnets and a headband worn across your forehead.  Silent movie stars wore white face powder with black lipstick to stand out on the big screen. Finish the look with a white feather boa and word boards – remember you’re a silent star!

The 1920s Aristocrat
Take a nod to the 1920s upper class gentleman and keep it classy by donning a black tailored suit, a crisp white shirt and black dickie bow, accessorise with a top hat, a monacle and a fake moustache.
