One of Britain’s most visited cities, Manchester is famed for its cosmopolitan nightlife and thriving shopping scene. As you might expect, there are dozens of places selling delicious mince pies in the run up to Christmas, from market stalls to long-established bakeries. Here’s where to go to get the very best mince pies around:

The Manchester Art Gallery

On December 15th, join the Manchester Art Gallery for free mince pies, wine and festive music. This world-class venue is home to more than 2,500 artworks, ranging from magnificent ceramics and dolls houses to famous European paintings and women’s costumes. Places will fill quickly, so book ahead!

Open every day (and until 9pm on Thursdays), the gallery is next to Mosley Street and is just over half a mile from Manchester Piccadilly railway station.

Don’t forget, we’re open late on Thursdays. Tonight we have a Make space session, which is our creative workshop for adults in the Design gallery, and the book launch of The Gathering by Joe Devlin and David Mackintosh. The gallery is open until 9pm tonight. #MAGthursdaylates #manchesterartgallery #workshop #booklaunch #evening #gallery

Robinsons

The oldest family-run craft bakery in Manchester, Robinsons celebrated its 150th anniversary in 2014 and is revered for its mouth-watering mince pies and quality bread. In recent years, this bakery has sold about 2,000 mince pies in the week just before Christmas. So rest assured – you won’t be disappointed!

The Robinsons Bakery is in the Greater Manchester town of Failsworth and is approximately five miles or a 15-minute drive from the city centre (outside of rush hour).

The authentic English tea room, opened by Nicholas Curtis and Andrew Underwood in 2011, is on Richmond Street, just 400 metres from Manchester Piccadilly railway station.
