We love the glitz, glamour and drama of Hollywood so much we’ve made it the theme for our spectacular 2014 Liverpool Christmas parties; the Hollywood Ball.
You’ll be treated to a red carpet entrance and Champagne on arrival before entering a world of pure glamour and West End style entertainment. The Hollywood Ball is destined to impress, here are five of our favourite fancy dress ideas to ensure you’re dressed to impress too…
Marilyn Monroe’s Iconic White Dress
Who isn’t aware of ‘that dress’ Marilyn Monroe wore in the The Seven Year Itch back in 1955, created by costume designer William Travilla?
To achieve this look pick a mid-length, ivory, halter neck cocktail dress with a floaty, pleated skirt and accessorise with a pair of simple, strappy white heels and chunky white earrings. Marilyn was famous for her platinum, blonde curls so smooth some mousse through your hair before putting in your rollers and blow drying for volume and shine.
Add the final touches to the outfit by painting your nails and applying crimson red lipstick. Throw a white, faux fur wrap around your shoulders… and of course, a spritz of Chanel No. 5.
James Bond 007 Style
Choosing to dress like the 007 Secret Agent won’t fail to get you looking and feeling like a sleek, suave Hollywood Hero. Move over, Daniel Craig…
A black or charcoal grey, tailored tuxedo will immediately give you the Bond look. Choose shoulder pads that’ll make your shoulders look broad with a crisp, white shirt accessorised with diamond cufflinks and a black dickie bow. For added detail, place a folded pocket square in your suit, a bright shade of red will give you that extra festive touch.
Holly Golighlty, of Breakfast at Tiffany’s, is easily one of the most elegant and instantly recognisable Hollywood icons of our time. Her style is easy to achieve yet oozes glamour and sophistication from head to toe.
Team a string of pearls with a floor-length, fitted black dress topped off with a diamante tiara, long black opera style gloves and high heeled court shoes.
Channel Audrey Hepburn’s look with a perfectly finished up-do (with lots of hairspray to ensure it stays in place until the end of the night!) Over-sized sunglasses will perfect this look along with a slick of black eyeliner and red lipstick.
Modern Day Rock ’n’ Roll
If retro isn’t really your style then take note from today’s Hollywood icons and base your Christmas Party outfit on a star such as Jonny Depp.
Jonny’s effortless style is achieved with unkempt hair, a pair of shades such as mirrored aviators or black rims with violet coloured lenses and a quirky ‘pork pie’ hat or fashionable trilby. Jonny is known for his scruffy jeans, which might not quite fit the Hollywood Ball style so choose an alternative and go for a tweed or charcoal grey, three piece suit and give it an edge by accessorising with beads, leather bracelets and a scarf… tattoos optional!
The Oscar Winner
You’ll be given the celebrity treatment from the moment you arrive at The Hollywood Ball, the perfect excuse to make like a glamorous Oscar winner and wear an elegant, bright dress with towering heels and diamond accessories as you walk down the red carpet whilst being snapped by the paparazzi.
